Coronavirus (COVID-19) update: standard operating procedure for testing
On Wednesday (22 April 2020) we sent all driving instructors, motorcycle trainers and vocational trainers a letter from DVSA's Chief Executive Gareth Llewellyn.
These letters explained what we're doing to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, and advise you to look at what support the government has put in place for you.
Sharing our standard operating procedure
As part of the letters, we let you know we would be sharing our standard operating procedure for carrying out emergency tests with you and the industry.
We hope this guidance will help you, if you choose to carry out training for pupils whose work is critical to the coronavirus response.
I trust that this explanation of the current situation clears up the muddying of the waters perpetrated by other associations and sources.
We are facing a pandemic the likes of which none of us have seen beforehand.
As a tier 1 stakeholder with the DVSA. We have already made our stance clear:-
STAY AT HOME.
KEEP ISOLATED, APART FROM THOSE YOU LIVE WITH.
PROTECT THE NHS and SAVE LIVES.
We must at all costs defeat and wipe out this Covid 19 virus. The only way to save lives is to follow the advice given by the medical experts. Stay home and if going outside keep 2 metres apart.
We do not support nor recommend any other register for approved driving instructors or trainers. The only register we conform to and adhere with is held by the DVSA and administered by the Registrar.
Until recently it was clear that another association was charging for training and to join yet another register. This is NOT COMPULSORY and as such we DO NOT SUPPORT IT!!!
Please follow regular updates on our:-

Wishing you, your families and those you love, all the best of health. We can all make it through this tough time by looking after each other. See you all soon.
The AADI is offering to help the dvsa with its poor public image to help clear up some confusing issues on the driving test for driving instructors and learners in the UK and make their lives easier.
Dear dvsa,
DVSA thanks for all the recent emails,... keeping us ADIs up to date. I should like to discuss with you a few of the points that you have raised.
"It is all our fault (the ADI) that the booking system is in chaos and our fault that candidates are not turning up for the test".
